In relation to our current exhibition A Passion To A Principle by the British-Ghanaian painter Lynette Yiadom-Boakye, we offer a diverse program for the whole family in which the numerous aspects of portraiture and fiction can be explored.

6 pm to 2 pm – Colorful Shadowplay
Design your own shadow, throw it on the wall and catch it again! With fanciful objects and utensils, children and adults can invent new images of themselves.

6 pm to 2 pm – Well, Who Are You?
Whether selfie or oil painting: The history of portraiture in the fine arts is picturesque and versatile – so is the history of Kunsthalle Basel. Test your knowledge in our quiz and learn art historical facts from our game of faces, conceived for art lovers of all ages.

6 pm to 2 pm – Drink Follows Color
Would you like a “Yellow Red Bitter Long Strong”? The artist Sebastian Mundwiler and his team mix colorful and exciting drinks – inspired by Barnett Newman’s painting “Who’s Afraid of Red, Yellow and Blue”

7.30 pm, 8.30 pm, 9.30 pm – Poetic Tours with Simone Lappert
A literary view (in German) on the fictive portraits by Lynette Yiadom-Boakye that show us new linguistic ways of encountering paintings that are full of poetry.
