Performance “Learning to Imitate in Absentia II” by Yael Davids

The motive of absence is taken on in the newly conceived performance “Learning to Imitate in Absentia II”. In the approximately one-hour piece Davids recites from memory a text she wrote about loss and ephemeral experiences that are hard to name or embody, repeatedly interweaving references to contemporary art and culture at large with personal anecdotes of her childhood in Israel revealing political developments in her home country. While reciting, she moves in the space, using various pre-arranged objects that relate to the script. Thereby the performance becomes a choreographed lecture.
