B ist ein Bild (P is a Picture)
The grapic designer Ludovic Balland presents his film B ist ein Bild (P is a picture), which grappels with the production process of the catalogue of the 5th berlin biennial. Balland designed a typeface which is composed of visual elements of the city of Berlin and is used as a starting point to discuss how pictures, words and stories meet on a page. The production of the catalogue consisting of texts and research material from the invited artists is shown alongside critical statements of different people within the design community.
Ludovic Balland (*1973, Geneva) lives and works in Basel and is responsible for the design of all the publications of the 5th berlin biennial.
Previous to the film screening a short presentation of the 5th berlin biennial – curated by Adam Szymczyk, director of Kunsthalle Basel, and Elena Filipovic – will take place.
