A performance project for young adults in connection with Zhana Ivanova’s exhibition Ongoing Retrospective Chapter II (22.1 – 4.2.2016)
In three intensive workshops focusing on Zhana Ivanova’s performance piece Borrowed Splendour, a class from Gymnasium Bäumlihof and three students from the foundation course at Schule für Gestaltung Basel explored the notion of performance as an art form. The participants first of all examined and discussed different types of performance. Working in small groups, they then developed their own ideas for short performance pieces that include some form of audience participation. The four groups produced very different performances that playfully questioned the roles of spectator and performer.
Four of the participants also seized the unique opportunity to take part in a staging of Zhana Ivanova’s performance piece during Basel Museums Night 2016.
