On May 10, Kunsthalle Basel invited to a memorable film night in the presence of the artist Alia Farid. The evening began with a guided tour by the artist herself through the exhibition In Lieu of What Is. Afterward, two short films were presented on the big screen of Stadtkino Basel.
The latest short film by Alia Farid Chibayish, first released in April 2022 at the Whitney Biennial, was the opening of the film night and complemented the exhibition with a cinematic work by the artist. Its screening was followed by the short film An Uncomfortable Eagerness by Hilda Mantilla and Raimond Chaves, personally selected by the artist. Both films provided the audience with another perspective on the world’s most important resource, water. After the screening, 32 guests exchanged their thoughts on the films while enjoying refreshing drinks and popcorn and letting the mild spring evening slowly end.
