Event Description:
An art and film program by Kunsthalle Basel at STADTKINO BASEL.

As part of the public program for The Jawbone Sings Blue by Troy Montes Michie, Screen Dialogs presents Looking for Langston, a poetic black-and-white film by Isaac Julien from 1989. The film delves into the private world of poet, author, and social activist Langston Hughes, as well as that of other Black artists, during the Harlem Renaissance. 

Isaac Julien combines archive material, imaginary, dreamlike scenes, and poetry to create a lyrical and moving work that questions perceptions of this era and highlights the often-concealed experiences of Black queer people.
