Vincent Fecteau (*1969) hat im Laufe der letzten zwanzig Jahre eine ausgesprochen eigenständige Ästhetik geschaffen, die einfache Materialien (Eisstiele, Champagnerkorken, Faden und Ähnliches), akkurates Handwerk und eine ausgefallene Formensprache miteinander verbindet. Seine Skulpturen, die mal schräg, erotisch, ausserirdisch oder barock und bisweilen auf paradoxe Weise all dies zusammen sind, entstehen in kleinen, langsamen Schritten der Anhäufung, bei denen die Schichtungen und die Texturen ebenso wie die Spuren der manuellen Bearbeitung alle sichtbar bleiben. You Have Did the Right Thing When You Put That Skylight In, die bis dato umfassendste Werkschau und erste Einzelausstellung in der Schweiz des in San Francisco lebenden Künstlers, zeigt eine Auswahl an älteren Arbeiten welche bis in Jahr 2000 zurück gehen und stellt denen eine ganze Serie an neuen Arbeiten gegenüber. Bestehend aus Bildern aus Zeitschriften und anderen vorgefertigten Elementen (Schuhkartons, Schmuckschatullen, Körbe und andere billige Behälter, allesamt tiefschwarz bemalt), beschreiben diese Wandskulpturen einerseits eine Rückkehr zu den Ursprüngen seines Schaffens (Collage) und andererseits eine grundlegende Neuausrichtung.
