Kunsthalle Without Barriers

Under the heading Kunsthalle without barriers, the art education team together with social education workers has developed a series of workshops that are specifically designed to meet the particular needs of people with disabilities. These are usually run as one-day workshops for people with disabilities from different institutions in Basel and the surrounding area. Following an easygoing but informative tour of the exhibition, the participants have lunch together and are then given the chance to experiment with different forms of artistic expression in the museum’s art workshop.

In 2010 our Kunsthalle without barriers workshops were awarded a Museumsstern – a museum star – given by the city of Basel to institutions that take active measures to meet the special needs of people with disabilities and elderly people, among others, by developing creative methods to integrate them into educational activities.
