Within easy walking distance from the tram stops Bankverein, Barfüsserplatz and Theater, Kunsthalle Basel is located right in the city centre of Basel.

All these stations are well served by Basel’s public transport system and can be reached quickly and conveniently from the city’s two railway stations, the Swiss railway station SBB and the German train Station Badischer Bahnhof.

Kunsthalle Basel does not provide parking facilities. If you are driving, we recommend one of the following car parks:

Disabled Access

Kunsthalle Basel welcomes disabled visitors. We strive to make your visit as pleasant and memorable as possible. All rooms of Kunsthalle Basel are fully wheelchair accessible. Thus as part of the extensive renovations of 2004, a lift was installed which provides easy access to the ceiling light hall. Constructed on one level and free of any thresholds and other obstacles, the museum’s interior is completely wheelchair-friendly. All museum rooms have parquet flooring. The foyer and the area in front of the ceiling light hall are paved with flagstones. Admission is free for disabled persons and their escort. Wheelchair users only require staff assistance when accessing the building from the main road. Our cashiers will be pleased to help you (phone +41 61 206 99 01).

How to find us

We recommend using public transport. Since Kunsthalle Basel does not generally provide parking facilities for visitors, travelling to the museum in your own car or by disability transport is possible in exceptional cases only. Please contact our staff beforehand if you are planning to use private transport: +41 61 206 99 01.

Restaurant Kunsthalle, our Campari Bar and Stadtkino Basel are all fully wheelchair accessible.
